The Red House Theater, also known as The Red House, is a historic theater and a must-visit landmark in Ximending. The theater is only eight minutes walk from amba.
Designed by Japanese architect Kondo Juro and originally built in 1908 as Taiwan’s first modern market, it became a theater in 1945. After recently undergoing extensive renovations, the building now houses creative shops, and is a venue for art and literary events and live performances.

Zhongshan Hall is a national grade two historic site, also in Ximending, just 10 minutes walk from amba.
Originally built as the Taipei City Hall in 1928, the building was renamed as the Zhongshan Hall after Taiwan’s retrocession in 1945 and was used for the reception of foreign dignitaries. Today, it is a cultural space that hosts cultural and art events.
